I am currently retired from the active workforce. Prior to that, I had a 35 year career with TELUS Communications. My career with TELUS started as a Finance trainee and progressed to hold a variety of roles in Finance with increasing responsibilities, leading to my last role as Senior Vice President Finance – TELUS & CFO - TELUS International. My previous role, which I had for 10 years, was Senior Vice President & Corporate Controller. Career highlights include the conversion of TELUS’ accounting standards and requirements from Rate Regulation, to Canadian and US GAAP, and to IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), leading the successful implementation of the SOX 404 and 302 Controls processes, SAP ERP design and implementation, as well as extensive Merger and Acquisition financial support.
I am presently involved in three different not-for-profit organization boards in support of the Providence Health Care, the Providence Living, and the TELUS Fund. I was the Chair of the Richmond Hospital Foundation Board from 2018 to 2020, Vice Chair of the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Society Board from 2013 to 2019, and also a member of the TELUS Vancouver Community Board for three years from 2011 to 2014, chairing the Education sub-committee. All this community involvement is important to me, as it allows me the opportunity to contribute back to the community in which I live and care about. I am also proud to have been the Executive Sponsor over the course of 10 years for TELUS’ Finance Management Development Program (FMDP), which helped in developing very good finance talent for TELUS as well as establishing TELUS as one of the very few first non-accounting firms in Canada to be the official training offices for Chartered Accountant (CPA) in all three provinces of BC, Alberta and Ontario.
In 2011, I had the honor to be named a TELUS Legend.
I have a daughter and a son. My daughter is married and has a career in medical laboratory science in Edmonton. My son has a career in project management in the real estate development field in Vancouver.
I play guitar and like sports.
