Petra graduated from the Faculty of Law, Charles University in Prague in 1993, where she gained a doctoral degree five years later. In 1995, she graduated from the Academy of Performing Arts (AMU), specializing in the dance theory.

Participating in the Fulbright scholar program, she studied at the New York University, focusing on the copyright protection of choreographic works.
